POWERS & ABILITIES:As a werewolf, Kate possesses enhanced speed, strength, healing, durability, senses and reflexes. She changes into a golden blonde wolf with blue eyes, almost exactly like her father. Most werewolves in her world have to shift every week, two weeks if they push it. Kate and Logan only have to shift about once every month, but when they started to get older they started to go out more frequently by choice. She just never would, because the longer you put off changing, the harder it is to do. Shifting for wolves like Kate is incredibly painful, but it is something she is accustomed too, and something that is worth it. It's a pain she embraces. It's also something that requires a lot of energy.

Werewolves in her world are not impacted by the moon phases. If they don't shift enough, their bodies will force them to do it. High stress and fear can also trigger the shift. But Kate has been shifting since she just eight years old (most born wolves do not shift until they around 15 or older). She is exceptionally well trained, thanks to her parents and her pack. She's capable of just shifting her hands into claws, which is a trick that most wolves do not know, but one Kate has learned from her parents.

Most werewolves in her world are male. Her mother is the first female to survive a bite and transformation, and Kate is perhaps the firstborn female werewolf ever. Kate, and her twin brother Logan, have always been special, if not exceptional. They walked away from jumping out of a second-story window with just some sprains at age three. They had above average hearing always, and started shifting into werewolves long before what was normal of most born wolves.

Kate has strong hunting and tracking skills. She could easily survive in the wilderness on her own now. She's also a very good fighter, and is fast even for a werewolf. Despite not liking death and sights of horror, Kate also knows how to deal with and clean up a crime scene, as well as dispose of bodies.

A musical prodigy, and a wealth of knowledge, Kate sucks up whatever she reads. She plays multiple instruments and has little trouble picking up new ones. She is multilingual, and outside of music has a particular interest in animals and animal anatomy, mythology and art. She has a pretty solid understanding of journalism, graphic design, and can tell you quite a bit out witches, sorcerers and necromancy.

HISTORY:
Katherine Danvers was prophesized. A cult of lunatic supernaturals believed that she, her twin brother Logan, her aunt Savannah, and a number of other babies in the Otherworld, who had unique circumstances surrounding their births, were all prophesized and were signs that it was time for the supernatural population to step into the light, and basically take over the humans.

But that insanity was squashed before it ever had had an impact on Kate.

When Kate was born, the whole world had to know it. She came kicking and screaming, and she wasn't going to stop until she was tucked safely into the arms of her mother or father. Named for her moms friend Paige, who's middle name is Katherine, and her mother's mom, Kate was a force to be dealt with from birth. Almost the polar opposite from her brother, Kate was constantly leading the two of them into trouble before they could walk. From jumping out windows to follow their parents into the woods, to stealing treats, attempting to hide from her parents. Kate was full of energy and had a nose for trouble.

It was apparent that the twins were special from a young age. They displayed secondary characteristics of kids who would eventually turn into werewolves from the start, as opposed to developing them later in life. But given the uniqueness of their birth, especially Kate's, no one knew what would happen. Because of her ability to read people and emotions, Kate always knew there was something special about her family, and that her parents were keeping something from them. She just didn't know what it was. Elena had wanted to keep the secret from them until they were older, Clay didn't agree. But after only four years, it became obvious that they were not going to be able to keep hiding things from the twins. Especially when Kate kept throwing fits about keeping secrets and being lied to. So at just four years old, they found out their family were werewolves, and both twins took it better than most adults would. In fact, they embraced it. Their parents were their parents in human or wolf form, and more than anything the twins wanted to grow up to Change as well. If they didn't, that would leave their parents with the choice of forcing them to stay as human, or changing them via bite.

At four, Kate escaped her first kidnapping attempt. A human, who liked little blonde girls way too much, targeted Kate while their family was on vacation. That was the biggest mistake of the mans life. The twins alone were almost too much for him to handle when they attacked. But having an Alpha werewolf from a mom and her beta/the scariest werewolf ever for a father meant the man was basically done for.

The twins grew up embracing the werewolf lifestyle, even before they Changed. Stray mutts, man-eaters and pack-laws made more sense to her than some human customs. But Elena insisted that the twins be social with humans, even if Kate screamed in protest. So despite preferring the pack, Kate still had trips to the park, swimming lessons, music lessons, etc.

She really picked up on music, first the piano, and she just kept going from there. When she reached school, she joined the band, and played sports, especially track and field and soccer. School was easy for her, Kate aced all of her classes and was one of the smartest kids in her grade, second only to her genius brother, Logan. Being intelligent, talented, and pretty put her at odds with most of the girls in her class. She had no desire to socialize with the popular girls, and often hung out with the outcasts, which annoyed the other girls to no end.

Just before her ninth birthday, Kate started to get mood swings. Really bad ones. Her wild child attitude took on a new twist to just rude and disobedient. It took some time, but soon after she started to have muscle spasms, and her parents and Jeremy realized that she was starting to show the signs of a shift. But at eight, she was far too young, as most wolves don't show any signs until close to fifteen. What should have taken months of symptoms was condensed into days. Her symptoms progressed rapidly, and right in the middle of a clash with the English Pack (Kate is all about inconvenient timing), she shifted. Her brother, despite showing pretty much no signs, followed minutes later. No one was even sure they would Change, let alone at the age of eight and as rapidly as they did. They both handled the agonizing Change like champions and became full members of the pack.

After her Change she stopped playing school sports, it was no longer fair for her to play against humans. But she kept up with her music studies, mostly all self-taught. She had a few friends she would jam with from time to time, but mostly it was on her own. In junior high she entered a talent competition on a dare and took home first place. Pack drama came and went, it was never going to be silent when your mom was the Alpha, but Kate dealt with it all in stride. She had her pack, she had her twin, that was all she needed.

Kate blew through school with ease. She excelled in all school subjects, taking second place among her class behind her brother. She landed a full ride to Columbia. She spent her undergraduate study music in New York City, graduating a year early. Her Masters, followed by her Ph.D. in music took her to a smaller town where she attended Yale. It suited her much better.
